The greens are fast and in some cases, difficult to read. The 7th is a par 5 with a dog-leg right and a large pine tree with a lake in front of the green; an interesting hole. The spectacular 9th is another par 5. The hole everybody remembers is the 13th, a par 3 drop over water onto an island - fun if you get it right. The green is 50 meters below and surrounded by narrow bunkers. The 18th is a very attractive hole to finish on with five large, deep, bunkers before the raised green. The clubhouse is constructed of local stone in the Provençal style and is completely in keeping with the surroundings. It has an excellent restaurant and bar with breathtaking views from the terrace. There are also traditional apartments within the complex available for rent at reasonable rates details of which can be found in the apartments section of our site.
Chateau Taulane
A very tasteful entrance welcomes you to the Chateau Taulane as the drive bends its way through the golf course. Gary Player has designed the course and the holes have an American feel about them. He has used water as the main hazard and there is very little rough leading to more time enjoying the scenery than trying to find wayward drives. The course is extremely well manicured and gives the golfer a feeling of playing a championship venue. There are many feature holes but the 9th and 18th both take advantage of a large lake and the backdrop of the beautiful chateau, it is a course that is well designed with every hole having its own individual characteristic. As it is located 1100 meters above the sea, the season is shorter, and the course is only open for play from April to November. Chateau Taulane is a must play golf course and has the additional benefit of excellent facilities including numerous restaurants, a half way house situated overlooking the 9th and 18th greens and a gym and swimming pool. All of the staff are extremely helpful and speak English.
The
club house is ideally situated over looking the 18th green and halfway
refreshments are easily purchased. There is a main indoor restaurant or
the more favoured summer terrace which boasts a varied menu of both French
and English dishes at a reasonable price. The staff are English speaking
and are extremely helpful.
Grasse Country Club
Not far from Nice Airport, overlooking Grasse, the world's perfume capital, the Grasse Country Club is located 600 metres above sea level in a former 17th century private hunting estate. Enclosed within a wall centuries old, the Grasse Country Club invites you to enjoy the calm of its fairways under the shade of old oak trees. A delightful and tricky course, it is not particularly long, at 6021 meters Par 72. To get a good score, it is necessary to read the slopes on the fairways carefully, especially the 5th, a par 5. The front nine holes are in the woods with many ponds, lakes and bunkers as obstacles. There are four par 5s, three if which are on the back nine. It is a course that favours accurate iron play from the tee to give yourself every chance with your second shot into small demanding greens. From the back nine you have the view of Cannes and Mandelieu. It is worth a pause at the 12th and 13th holes, to take it all in. The 18th has a fantastic view of the mountains. Clubhouse facilities are excellent and the staff, friendly and efficient.
